The Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the overall site safety programs, ensuring safety SOP’s are followed, reporting and/or recording of all workplace injuries, incidents, and accidents, as well as ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, vendors, and visitors, working under the direction of the Safety Manager’s direction.

Bi-lingual in Spanish is a Plus!

YOU MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE:
  • Experience in OSHA Safety and Workman’s compensation issues. (Minimum 2 years preferred)
  • 10 or 30 OSHA Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Worker’s Comp, CERS or Tier reporting
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills a plus.
  • Excellent oral, and written, communication skills.
  • Bilingual a plus. (Spanish)
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 is required.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Serve as a Safety Coordinator which includes conducting safety team meetings, monthly safety toolbox talks, monitor safety performance and act as a resource for associates, supervisors, and management when safety issues and questions arise.
  • Advise the Safety Manager on any safety concerns and submit preventive measures and/or corrective actions for review.
  • Plan, implement, and conduct, safety training modules for associates and Human Resources.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Insurance for suppliers and vendors.
  • Maintain OSHA Log 300 and ensure all injury reporting is compliant with state and federal OSHA laws.
  • Establish, and maintain, a good working relationship with the local occupational medicine clinic used by the site. Set up the company protocols with the clinic to ensure the site’s needs are met consistently.
  • Ability to travel for critical events or acciden investigations.
  • Assist in documentation of post-injury/incident/accident investigations and prepare written reports identifying the root cause, hazards, and human elements that contributed to the event.
  • Assist in creating safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations governed by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the DOT (Department of Transportation).
  • Assist in managing an LMS (Learning Management System)
  • Assist in developing position-based training
  • Developing and Enforcing safety policies
  • Gathering safety metrics for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintaining confidential employee files
  • JSA reviews and implementation
  • Facility auditing and reporting for corrective actions
  • Lead safety meetings for regional operations managers.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
Physical Demands:
  • Sitting throughout the workday for computer work.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. – Low frequency
Work Environment:
  • Office Environment, good lighting, and low noise level.
  • Facility – Bend, stoop, walk, climb for building inspections (as needed per audit)
