Glendale Nursing Home is accepting applications for a Nurse Manager.

This position is a key member of our Nursing team, overseeing the care provided to 40 residents on one of our modern and updated neighborhoods. The Head Nurse is the nucleus of the residents care. Incumbent will coordinate many disciplines including Physician, Social Worker, Activities, Dietary, Physical Therapy and Pastoral Care.

This is a supervisory position involving responsivities for maintaining high standards of professional nursing services.

Typical work activities include:

· Assesses patient and/or resident nursing care needs;

· Makes daily patient/resident visits to review physical and emotional status and implement any required interventions;

· Reviews medication/treatment records for completeness and accuracy in the transcription of physicians orders;

· Supervises the overall activities of assigned unit subordinates in the nursing care of patient and/or residents and the administration of medications and treatments on a unit;

· Assigns responsibilities for direct patient/resident nursing care to the nursing staff;

· Collaborates with medical staff in care and treatment of residents;

· Supervises and evaluates the performance of all nursing staff on the unit;

· Instructs and assists the nursing staff and auxiliary nursing personnel on nursing problems, unit management and nursing service activities;

· Keeps nursing supervision and other disciplines informed about the status of patient/residents and other related matters;

· Coordinates the resolution of patients/residents problems observed by nursing staff through ICP intervention;

· MDS completion per CMS guidelines;

· Plans and insures that a nursing care plan is carried out;

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; OR

(B) Graduation from an approved three year school of professional nursing or an accredited New York State registered two year college with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and 1-year experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATION: Licensed in the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse at the time of appointment and throughout appointment.
