JOB TITLE: Residential Aide I

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Per Diem

SCHEDULED HOURS: First shift coverage- 7AM-3:30PM M-F

PROGRAM/LOCATION: Strickland, Manchester, CT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Strickland

An intensive residential program, providing 24-hour support services. Target population are individuals discharging from CVH.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • This role requires you to think outside the box and work closely with the Director to be creative with a person-centered approach.
  • The program is developed to give exposure to various diagnoses and how best to manage SPMI (Severe and Persistent Mental Illness) in a community setting.
  • No remote work options; important work is taking place and all staff are essential!
  • Regular support from the Program Director is available 24/7.
  • Strickland runs on a mission to teach, coach, support, and empower residents to live their lives independently. We teach and coach daily living skills regularly to help our residents understand their diagnosis and manage their lives in the community after long-term hospital stays.
  • Person-entered treatment plans are developed collaboratively with our residents.
  • A typical day for staff caring for 6 SPMI residents requires patience and direction to get our residents to start the day in a good mindset.
    • Hygiene
    • Nutrition
    • Medications
    • Medical/Psych assessments for the day
    • Preparing for the Vocational Program
    • Communication with Conservators/PCP/Pharmacy etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains physical environment and program standards to CHR, DMHAS, JCAHO and any other licensing standard

  • Monitors medications of all residents in accordance with the Adult residential medication policy and procedure.
  • Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to transfer information to other staff regarding the day’s events
  • Teaches and assists all residents in areas of rehab including: nutrition and healthy living, meal preparation, hygiene, laundry, banking and budgeting, and basic home care skills.
  • Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor
  • Prepares and facilitates educational and skill building groups and one to one interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
  • Collaborates and coordinate care with providers and families as needed.
  • Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Degree or equivalent.

Experience: Experience in Human Services with responsible work history.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid driver’s license required with good driving record.

COMPENSATION*: $17.00/hr

  • Our per diem and fee for service positions offer a flat hourly rate.
