The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Researcher IV candidate who is highly independent and skilled in flow cytometry, histology, cell culture and molecular biology. They will have tasks to perform flow cytometry on vaccinated transplant subjects, to set up a tonsil organoid culture model system in order to study the immunosuppressive agent Cellcept and its anti-proliferative activity against flu-specific B cells and to do single cell sequencing and molecular biology on human flu-specific B cells.


The ideal candidate will be empowered to create and implement procedures to be adapted by others in the lab, in order to ensure the effective and efficient day-to-day research productivity. This individual will also be in charge of developing and documenting research protocols that will be used on a regular basis in the lab.

  • To oversee projects within the laboratory
  • To assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities.
  • To collect, enter, summarize, analyze, and interpret data.
  • To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies.
  • To help develop long or short-term goals.

  • Collects, enters, summarizes, analyzes and interprets data.
  • Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes, develops modifications and provides data to management.
  • Participates and helps develop long or short term goals or strategic business objectives.
  • With direction, contributes to grant proposals and assists in the preparation and editing of grant applications.
  • Supervises lab equipment and supplies.
  • Uses advanced knowledge of lab practices to direct and teach others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range $47,486.40 - $85,000.00 Annually

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Doctorate in a related field
  • OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
  • OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Experience with flow cytometry, histology, cell culture and molecular biology.
