Job description
Promotes organizational integrity and ethics through understanding regulations around healthcare compliance. Serve as the physician liaison for all employed and contracted physicians. Manage the exclusion database to ensure we are including all employees, contract employees, vendors, physicians in the OIG/SAM screenings. Monitor annual employee compliance training. Participate in investigations and work directly with employees to manage complaints. Assist in customer complaints as needed. Monitor, audit, and perform analysis of compliance and Risk concerns.

Authorized to review and investigate on behalf of the risk management and compliance management programs. Abides by strict confidentiality related to findings and actions.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
  • Physician Liaison (employed physicians and mid-levels)
    • Work directly with physicians and mid-levels regarding the management of their annual CME monies
    • Process reimbursements from their receipts.
    • Correspond (email, phone, in-person) regarding questions they have about their contracts (this person must have the wherewithal to know if the question(s) should be vetted through the Compliance Officer or Director before responding to mitigate risk).
    • Monthly, process call-pay and verify all requirements of the employment agreements are being met.
  • Physician Liaison (contracted doctors)
    • Process call pay for approximately 25 physicians and mid-levels on a monthly basis
    • Process monthly scrub tech hours
    • Process office hour pay for Urology and Orthopedics, monthly.
    • Process hospitalist invoices monthly, this includes all locum invoices, Hutchinson Clinic and Sound Physicians.
In order to do any of the above listed processing, this individual must have the ability to verify all pieces of the contracts comply before payment is made.
  • Document Control Database Administrator
    • Train new management employees how to manage their policies and view their contracts in document control system
    • Assist employees that need document control assistance
  • Contract Processing and Auditing
    • Manage contract renewal dates as directed by the owners of each contract
    • Ensure all contracts are fully executed and include the scope and nature
    • Review patient care contracts for quality measures
  • Policy Management
    • Manage Compliance Department policies
    • Assist other team members in understanding the policy work flow
  • Exclusion Screening
    • Upload and maintain all employees, medical staff, vendors and contract employees into KChecks (exclusion software)
    • Verify employees against HR lists.
  • Conflicts of Interest (COI)
    • Responsible for identifying, tracking and ensuring compliance with COI
    • Confirm we have statement of disclosures for all transactional (buyers) employees
  • Training
    • Review HealthStream training requirements
    • Work with Education to assign and monitor completions annually
  • Compliance Intranet Page
    • Manage the Compliance Intranet page internally.
  • Compliance Hotline. Email, Event Reporting System & Complaints
    • Monitor compliance hotline
    • Investigate complaints including interviewing employees
    • Document outcomes and responding to complainants.
    • Coordinate efforts with Patient Relations Manager and Compliance Director or Officer
    • Monitor, audit, and perform analysis of compliance and Risk concerns.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) and patient safety, as well as other policies and procedures and understands the role of other organizational leaders for each in order to ensure compliance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School education or (GED)
  • 5 or more years in the hospital setting
  • Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting State and Federal laws, rules and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word; Excel and PowerPoint or equivalent

  • Associate Degree or higher
