Job description
- 3 years of hospital RN experience required.
- 1 or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred.
- Must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University.
- Must have and maintain current BCLS/CPR and ACLS (South Texas Behavioral is excluded from needing ACLS) certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
- Familiar with basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the TX Nurse Practice Act.
- Membership in related professional organization preferred.

Must be current upon hire and thereafter
ACLS
If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire, unless in Labor and Delivery or Post-Partum where RN must obtain within six months of hire;
nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times
If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;
NRP
If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire, unless in Labor and Deliver or Post-Partum where RN must obtain within six months of hire,
TNCC or or T-CAR
If required in unit, must have and maintain certification within eighteen months after hire;
STABLE
If required in unit, must obtain within 12 months of hire,
CPI (SAMA at STBH only)
If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
SAMA (STBH only)
If required in unit, - obtain within 30 days of hire
FETAL MONITOR
If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of L&D experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a year of L&D experience - obtain within 6 months of hire; or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times.
