Job Summary:

The position of Reading Teacher/Interventionist is responsible for serving as a reading intervention teacher for elementary age students for a federally funded research project in the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at The University of Texas at Austin. This position includes teaching daily reading intervention to students using a structured reading program, periodic assessment of student progress, and planning for differentiation of instruction. Reading intervention will be delivered daily to students in Buda, TX at various times between the hours of 7:30 - 3:00. Exact hours assigned to each interventionist will vary based on personal availability and project needs.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

• Teach daily reading intervention to small groups of students using a structured reading program with high fidelity and quality
• Plan for differentiation of instruction
• Administer formative assessments to students
• Document student attendance and behavior
• Attend team meetings and maintain communication with project coordinators

Minimum Requirements:

• This position requires a Bachelor's degree
• Prior experience working with children
• Daily access to transportation to schools in Buda, TX is required
• Daily availability during regular school hours
• Availability for training at UT Campus on August 22, 23, and 24
• Completion of a background check and fingerprinting

Preferred Requirements:

• Prior experience teaching reading/ELA in K-12 setting
• Teacher certification
