Quality Engineer

Location: Columbus, Oh

Position summary:

Perform root cause analysis on defect parts, monitor warranty data to ensure constant reduction related to countermeasure implementation, and work with customers, suppliers, & sister plants to improve process capability.

Effectively reflect previous warranty issues into the new model design & production process controls.

Qualifications/Essential Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent discipline or equivalent work experience

manufacturing environment preferred (work or school)

Root cause analysis experience preferred

Above average math skills (sound knowledge in both statistics and calculus).

Good oral and written communication skills

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external.

Ability to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance).

Excellent organization skills with ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain results working within strict time frames.

Strong attention to detail.

Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications.

CAD Data Analysis (measurement & manipulation) (CATIA V5 preferred).

Basic knowledge of operating measurement equipment (CMM preferred).

Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

Warranty & Mass Production Support duties:

Window for OEM warranty program.

Investigate current market claims, establish proper countermeasures, and feed forward results to new model designs.

Lab and test equipment maintenance and management.

Effective and efficient communication with customers, sister plants, and suppliers.

Process assurance audits at sister plants and suppliers.

Window to sister plants and suppliers for test requests and cost savings opportunities.

Effective and efficient creation and communication of presentations to internal management, customers, suppliers, and sister plants.

Monitor and follow-up on sister plant supplier issues, and support/lead high impact supplier quality issue investigations.

Perform, execute, and follow-up on past problem investigations (ensure countermeasures are implemented and effective).

Support new and current supplier development activities.

New Model and Supplier Quality duties:

Review early development drawings, quality control plans, DFMEA/PFMEA, etc.

Conduct minimum process requirement audits to ensure previous issues will not reoccur, in order to improve new model quality.

Conduct evaluations of new model parts for comparison to JD Power market data from actual customers to ensure customer expectations are met.

Effective and efficient creation and communication of presentations to top management during development of new models.

Monitor and follow-up on sister plant supplier issues and support/lead high impact supplier quality issue investigations.

Perform, execute, and follow-up on past problem investigations (ensure countermeasures are implemented and effective).

Support new and current supplier development activities.
