Job Summary

The Purchasing Buyer/Receiver is responsible for the timely expedition of all purchase orders and assists the Assistant Director of Purchasing with monitoring vendor and supplier performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Expedites purchase orders weekly
• Types computer generated reports as directed
• Provides coverage for the other Buyers in their absence
• Monitors vendor performance, i.e. quality of product or service, price, delivery, reliability, etc
• Accountable for the pricing and quotes of requisitions as required
• Responsible for agency cellphone distribution and revisions to cellphone lists
• Receive products from vendor deliveries and unload trucks when the warehouse clerk is not available
• Compare packing slips to company purchase orders and ensure that the products in each delivery match the packing list
• Package products for return to vendors and fill out any paperwork necessary prior to the shipment being picked up
• Assists in maintaining lists of potential vendors and supplies
• Assists in the processing and issuing of all purchase orders
• Periodic reviews and reports on vendors
• Keeps current with the goods and services available in the marketplace and alternate vendors and suppliers
• Assists in computer receiving and data entry
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
• All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements and Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Typing 50 wpm
• Computer knowledge
• One year of purchasing experience
• Valid NYS Drivers License
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
