KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Public Safety Officer Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the safety and security of the property of Grace Church, including the following duties:

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Public Safety Officer Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the safety and security of the property of Grace Church, including the following duties:
- Provides a public safety presence and protects Grace Church property, assets, staff and guests on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm-10:00 pm.
- Monitors and prevents unauthorized entry into restricted areas.
- Monitors and reports violations of church rules and applicable state laws.
- Responds, assesses, contains, and resolves situations taking appropriate action steps based on policy and training.
- Evaluates the need for and manages the process of contacting 911 for additional emergency assistance and resources and assists first responder personnel upon arrival.
- Writes legible, concise, accurate and timely reports.
- Completes and processes departmental paperwork.
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
- Provides positive public relations and professional guest service in accordance with Grace Church mission and Public Safety standards when interacting with staff and guests.
- Operates church vehicles in accordance with church and department policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS:
- Experience: 2+ years’ experience on Grace Church’s Public Safety Team preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Training: minimum of a PSO-1 or 2 years of public safety/security work.
- Ability to demonstrate positive public relations skills.
- Ability to work Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5-10pm to meet public safety needs.
- Knowledge of security, loss prevention, medical response, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Maintain a physical level which allows for carrying out all aspects of the position to include (but not limited to): standing, walking, sitting, crawling, squatting, crouching, kneeling, bending able to stand, walk, sit, crawl, squat, crouch, kneel and bend while on duty.
- Ability to climb several flights of stairs in a timely manner.
- Agreement of exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Agreement of exposure to intermittent noise above 85 decibels.
- Understands and adheres to Grace Church Public Safety department's rules of conduct including uniforms, and grooming standards.
- Ability to utilize strong verbal and interpersonal skills when speaking to staff and guests.
- Ability to remain calm and problem solve to make good decisions in high stress situations.
- Ability to handle disgruntled, agitated, hostile and potential physically combative people.
