Public Information Officer
Job description
JOB SUMMARY
Conducts and manages community relations, community education, fund raising events, and community development program. Promotes a positive image of the organization within the community through presentations, social media, radio, and print media. Attend community meetings in each county of the service area. Some after hours and weekends are required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to write press releases, news stories, articles, and quarterly newsletters.- Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple projects at a time.
- Excellent interpersonal and social skills.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms - especially Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Basic photography/video and editing skills.
- Must be familiar with trauma-informed care, Mental Health First Aid, and suicide prevention programs.
- Takes the lead in coordinating events and budget management for events.
- Has the skill to plan, develop, and promote ways to improve community engagement.
- Performs marketing and web page management.
- Participates as a member of the Executive Management Team by attending regular meetings and producing reports as required and give meaningful input.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of study including Social Services, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 year of experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record is required along with a copy of a valid auto insurance card.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift at least 25 pounds, reach overhead.
