GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position starts as part time but has HIGH potential to move into full time within a few months with advancement opportunities for a highly motivated and detail oriented individual.

This position is in the Court Administration office and will handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Data entry and information processing workers help ensure the smooth and efficient handling of information. This position works closely with Dispatch, Police Officers, and interacts with Pittsburg County Court Clerk and Pittsburg County Jail. Must be willing to perform duties as directed by the Court Administrator.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

 Take payments, assess case and make adjustments as mandated.

 Requires getting a ‘plea’ from every defendant.

 Answer phone, provide proper information to caller and or defendant.

 Assist court clerk with proofing newly issued warrants.

 Call defendants advising them of warrant.

 Filing newly issued warrants in court clerk office, and dispatch.

 Data entry-citations/citizen complaints by court date.

 Import electronic citations, verify accuracy of data.

 Pull warrants for court/dispatch when payment or arrest made.

 Perform other duties as assigned.

Requires responsibility and opportunity for achieving considerable economies and/or preventing considerable losses through the management of a large division or minor department, and/or handling of very large amounts of money.

MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS: “Mathematics” deals with quantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships and attributes by the use of numbers and symbols. Uses basic algebra involving variables and formulas and/or basic geometry involving plane and solid figures, circumferences, areas, and volumes and/or computing discounts and interest rates.

COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: “Communications” involves the ability to read, write, and speak. Reads routine sentences or instructions; writes routine sentences and completes routine work forms; speaks routine sentences using standard grammar.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK: “Complexity of Work” addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, and concentration required by the position and the presence of any unusual pressures. Performs semi-skilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem solving; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results and occasional exposure to unusual pressure.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS: “Impact of Decisions” refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals. Makes decisions with moderate impact - affects those in work unit.

EQUIPMENT USAGE: “Equipment Usage” refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physical characteristics. Handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items. Equipment used may include a copier, fax machine, DVD or VHS machine, and computer.

SAFETY OF OTHERS: “Safety of Others” refers to the responsibility for other people’s safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public. Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: “Education Requirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position. Requires High School diploma, GED and formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: “Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position. Requires none.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position. Requires one year of related experience.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL DEMANDS: “Physical Demands” refers to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Requires light work involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools or office equipment.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS: “Unavoidable Hazards” refers to unusual conditions in the work environment that may cause illness or injury. The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards. May sometimes be exposed to bright/dim lights and dust or pollen.

SENSORY (ADA) REQUIREMENTS: “Sensory Requirements” refers to hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell necessary to perform the tasks required by the position efficiently. The position may require normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of taste, sense of smell, depth perception, or texture perception.
