Projects Controls Specialist (Remote)
Job description
Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Controls Specialist opportunity in Hawthone, NV to support a DOD Project.
US Citizenship Required
Work Location: Expect to be in Hawthorne, NV at start of assignment for set up (~2 weeks) then work primarily remote with as-needed site visits.
GENERAL OVERVIEW:
- Overall responsibility for compliance of assigned projects with project controls standards - both from applicable contract documents and from Company project controls policies/guidelines
- Participate in developing, establishing, and maintaining the company’s project cost /control systems
- Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines
- Understand the execution logic to ensure consistency in developing and maintaining a detailed, resource-loaded schedule in P6
- Assist the project team in converting project bids to setting up the complete, accurate project baseline (budget, schedule), in the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP, P6)
- Set up project controls systems (cost codes, project rules of credit) in SAP
- Review the project contract and ensure that all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout
- Monitor the project performance and ensure that all the project control system is properly implemented; responsible for detailed review & analysis of earned value and other key performance indices and keep project management informed of project progress and trends
- Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance report
- Advise project management of developments that may affect project profit, costs, schedules, and client relations
- Establish and maintain communications to ensure accurate and timely flow of information
- Administer & support change management for assigned projects, in compliance with contract conditions (subcontractor claims, change requests, dispute resolution, etc.)
- Review and analyze the cost & schedule reports with the project team, and suggest corrective actions to maintain reasonable performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project managers with regards to activities trending away from the baseline or forecast
- Prepare and update project cash flows and forecasts
- Support Risk Management process with accurate quantification of risk and opportunities.
- Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings
- As required, produce custom reports from SAP/P6 per request of customer or internal management
- Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to Company project controls policy & guidelines
- Maintain continuous contact with Company corporate Project Controls group through regular reporting and acceptance of input and directives
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7-10 years of Project Controls experience.
- College and/or University degree in related field, OR applicable work experience
- Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) project experience preferred.
- Applied knowledge of the “Earned Value” principles.
- Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including experience with concepts of PMBOK
- Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Organizational skills in order to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment
- Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Apply consistent rigor with a questioning attitude towards ensuring valid and timely input from team members
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
- Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge
- Detail oriented and customer focused
