The Project Procurement Lead (PPL) will be responsible for the technical liaison between suppliers, design engineers and Supply Chain to achieve project and departmental goals and objectives.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Research and analyze previous jobs materials spend activity to accurately forecast new budgets for quoting efforts
  • Develop new technical sources to suit business requirements
  • Accurately and successfully organize material spend plan for the Back End PPL
  • Perform procurement duties as required by Supply Chain operations team
  • Analyze and develop costed BOM’s for build to print opportunities
  • Obtain firm quotations for all long lead/high cost items for new design opportunities
  • Identify and approve new suppliers that are proposed in the quoting phase for new designs and build to print opportunities
  • Provide detailed analysis and reporting in collaboration with Project Procurement Lead – Back End to actively monitor and manage proposed budget from job order kick off to actual job order spend
  • As a key member of new product design teams, advise the project regarding supplier capabilities to achieve lowest cost compliant solutions.
  • Understand the product from initial design and provide early input regarding ease and cost of supply.
  • Maintain a focus on vendor technologies to enable low cost design and facilitate a collaborative working relationship between design engineers and suppliers.
  • Engage suppliers early in the project life to gain their appropriate input into product solutions.
  • Support the development of engineering design methodology from a Supply Chain perspective to ensure successful execution through the supply chain.
  • Maintain a preferred parts list and use it to drive selection of common parts and design features across multiple projects.
  • Devise and implement a project procurement plan.
  • Ensure that project parts delivery needs are met in a timely manner through all project phases.
  • Maintain regular product material cost metrics for each project and achieve project cost requirements.
  • Other non-specific duties may be required to meet business objectives.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or equivalent discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing engineering experience or supply chain in a custom manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing and applying a project material procurement plan.
  • Sound working knowledge of Excel, Word and other MS Office software.
  • Ability to effectively manage large data files derived from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Good project management skills.
