We are looking for a Project accountant to provide financial support, guidance, and oversight for specific business projects. Someone who will be involved in the financial aspects at all phases of the project lifecycle. Someone to oversee any necessary pre-authorizations or approvals. Someone to review, verify, and process all invoices and purchase orders. Also, review and process expense and mileage reports and payments for vendors and contractors and ensure all necessary tax paperwork is completed. If needed, prepare expenditure reports with detailed supporting documentation, and compile final report summaries.

Ideally looking for someone who has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Someone proficient with major accounting software programs, along with office programs such as Excel. Familiarity with standard billing protocol and processes is expected, and strong project management skills are required.

The Project Accountant will handle a variety of tasks that includes:

  • Manage the financial information related to projects
  • Process AIA applications and forms
  • Reviews and process contracts
  • Handle purchase orders
  • Coordinate and approval of vendors/subcontract invoices
  • Assist with preparing and verifying client invoices
  • Assist in compiling financial reports
  • Coordinate with collecting, inputting and organizing file data from various sources to fulfill the contractual needs of the project.
  • Assist with verifying subcontractor pay estimates and maintain a tracking spreadsheet.
  • Assist with coding and processing invoices for accounts payable and maintain Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to track reoccurring invoices.
  • Assist with integrity of contract database.
  • Assist with project close-out tasks.
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Review and approve invoices from project managers
  • Collect, review, and process subcontractor/supplier monthly project invoice
  • Ensure proper payments to all subcontractors and major suppliers
  • General ledger in Knowify and Quickbooks
  • Reconcile monthly inventories, and materials analysis as directed.
  • Oversee the filing for the department, electronically and on paper.
  • Ensure all project costs (equipment, material, supplies, misc.) are processed.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • 3-5 years of experience within the construction industry strongly preferred
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Adaptability, flexibility, multi-tasking and problem-solving
  • Bookkeeping or general accounting skills preferred
  • Experience with General Ledger, and Cloud software and systems.
  • Fluent in spreadsheets, change orders, and enterprise resource planning.
  • Comfortable collaborating with others to run month-end closes and expense reports.
  • A critical thinker and leader with an eye or problem-solving and attention to detail.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
