The Program Support Outreach Specialist works with management and staff, as well as outside agencies, to provide outreach and coordinate the integration of service components within the Community & Career Services department, including the Cohoes Food Pantry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greets customers and visitors, by answering general questions or directing them to the appropriate ACAP program and help facilitate the enrollment of customers into CCS programs.
  • Perform a variety of program administration tasks such as copying, faxing, processing mail, data entry, meeting preparation, and updating/maintaining databases.
  • Conducts customer intakes and assesses eligibility for various programs.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the food pantry including stocking new order and distributing inventory
  • Develops, coordinates, and hosts program service activities and outreach and enrollment events and assists with drafting promotional materials.
  • Research, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with ACAP partners such as community organizations, representatives from unions, private industries, government agencies, public agencies, and similar sources to facilitate services and to provide outreach of community and career services programs.
Starting at $18.92 per hour; Monday-Friday 37.5 hours per week; Some nights and weekends are required to attend periodic outreach events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field is required with at least two (2) year of experience a related field. A High School diploma and four (4) years of experience may be used in place of an associate degree. Experience in a human services or community-based organization is preferred.

Experience in case management and familiarity of local social service providers will also be considered a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. Solid computer skills including data entry, MS Office, and customer service skills are required. Bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus. The candidate is required to possess and have the ability to maintain a NYS valid driver’s license because travel to and from program locations throughout Albany County is required.
