The Community-Based Museum Education Program (CBME) is based at Old Sturbridge, the largest living history museum in New England. This new AmeriCorps program will serve Title 1 students in school district and community afterschool and weekend programs across Central Massachusetts. CBME aims to increase access to enrichment activities and grow student engagement through project-based learning curriculum. The program aims to strengthen ties between the museum and the community by bringing the history-based education programs out into the community.

The Program Manager will work as part of the Community-Based Educator team to support the work of 16 three-quarters time AmeriCorps members serving throughout Central Massachusetts, including attending monthly Community-Based Educator meetings and events, and building positive relationships with our Community-Based Educators. The Program Manager will oversee key program areas, including managing the portfolio of community and after-school partner sites, evaluation and data collection, community engagement initiatives, and Community-Based Educator recruitment. This staff member will lead all elements of CBME’s program evaluation requirements, including Community-Based Educator timesheets, monthly reports, surveys, and focus group data. The Program Manager will also train and support Community-Based Educators with completing these requirements as well as analyze and share out annual program data. In addition, the Program Manager will also lead community engagement initiatives for program stakeholders. Finally, the Program Manager will work with the Human Resources staff to manage CBME’s Community-Based Educator recruitment initiatives. Responsibilities

Community-Based Educator Support & Program Management

  • Attend all Community-Based Educator meetings, retreats, and events
  • Manage and support a portfolio of community partner sites and Community-Based Educators through regular check-ins, site visits, and progress reports.
  • Serve as a mediator for personnel matters including, conflict management, disputes, and performance management
  • Manage and support all Community-Based Educators in successfully completing program requirements
  • Co-lead trainings for all members on leadership development and program requirements
  • Attend OSV Coordinator’s trainings and meetings related to early 19th Century New England.
  • Coordinate with OSV Hospitality Coordinator to meet the housing needs of Community Based Educator’s living in the Lodges.

Data & Evaluation

  • Lead CBME’s data collection requirements
  • Collect, assess, and compile Community-Based Educator and program accomplishment data
  • Disseminate pre and post survey tools, manage collection process, and conduct statistical analysis
  • Track program outcomes progress and ensure compliance with federal funders
  • Complete AmeriCorps required reports
  • Design reports and communications focused on program impact
  • Monitor program compliance focused on member timesheets, reporting, and paperwork
  • Coordinate with OSV HR and Finance Departments to ensure compliance.
  • Support Community-Based Educators in data collection requirements
  • Lead evaluation and reporting trainings for Community-Based Educators and community partner sites
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to Community-Based Educators and community partners on CBME’s evaluation requirements
  • Manage the Community-Based Educator service hour tracking system, Community-Based Educator monthly reporting, and all program evaluations
  • Facilitate all meetings
  • Create and finalize relevant surveys, disseminate to Community-Based Educators, and engage in preliminary data cleaning to share with evaluation consultant
  • Support Museum Education Management team in writing of annual federal grant application

Community Engagement Initiatives

  • Lead a full-scale Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and Leadership Event in partnership with community partner sites
  • Develop grant process, manage high-level logistics and project completion, market events, and provide on-going support for all projects

Community-Based Educator Recruitment

  • Lead CBME’s annual Community-Based Educator recruitment efforts to identify and select 16 AmeriCorps Community-Based Educators
  • Develop the recruitment strategic process including application, interview, host site and staff material, tracking system, external communication and outreach efforts to fill positions
  • Ensure compliance with AmeriCorps recruitment standards
  • Conduct information sessions for interested applicants
  • Create annual strategies and systems for recruitment
  • Support Community-Based Educator on-boarding process.
  • Collaborate with OSV’s Intern and Fellows Coordinator and HR to align recruitment and onboarding processes.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • A history of exemplary AmeriCorps and national/community service experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, preferred
  • Experience supporting and coaching young professionals
  • Knowledge and experience implementing culturally responsive project based curriculums.
  • Advanced organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Experience and interest in research and data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of or interest in principles and practices of evaluation and assessment
  • High level of creativity
