Africatown Community Land Trust (ACLT) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative and community-driven Director of Programs and Services. This role will collaborate across ACLT's teams to direct, develop strategy, and ensure execution of all aspects of programs and services align with the needs of the Black community. The successful candidate will have the ability to take ideas from inception to execution, ensuring that outcomes are aligned with the positive community impact. This position will supervise program managers and employees in areas of education, houselessness/transitional services, direct services, resource navigation, community building, and operations.

Africato n Community Land Trust is working for community ownership of land in the Central District. This can support the cultural and economic thriving of people who are part of the African diaspora in the Greater Seattle area. The Africatown Community Land Trust board is comprised of real estate professionals, business executives, entrepreneurs, business professionals, and long-time community members from the Central District.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director of Programs and services is responsible for providing leadership to the programs and services teams and building relationships with external stakeholders (partners, community members, government agencies, etc.). ACLT is rapidly expanding its community impact portfolio in the areas of

high school completion education programs, STEM programs, residential support services, houselessness transitional shelter housing, direct services (Case Management, group support circles, counseling, systems navigation, etc.), homeownership programs, and resource Navigation. This is a critical position for community impact success.

Typical duties of this position are as follows:

Leadership

  • Direct, guide, and oversee all program operations.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in developing, implementing, and monitoring ACLT's strategic plan for program strategies and identify potential areas of development.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to ensure the provision of high-quality, standardized services that are in compliance with applicable policies and regulations, and consistent with the ACLT's approach to service delivery

Community Relationships and Engagement

  • Build and maintain professional and community relationships to facilitate collaboration in the delivery of client services and advocacy for needed programs and services
  • Develop strong partnerships with local organizations that offer additional services and support for our participants.
  • Actively participate in appropriate community meetings, conferences, training, outreach, and public awareness activities
  • Oversee the development of qualitative service objectives, goals, and outcomes, including work plans, budgets, and logic models

Budget Management

  • Monitor programs' revenue and expenditures for budget compliance
  • Work closely with department leadership to recruit, hire, and manage staff to meet program goals

Program Development and Evaluation

  • Work with staff to develop consistent, high-quality project management support for all programmatic areas
  • Develop processes and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge that is generated by the programs
  • Ensure that key program/project outcomes and/or policy, advocacy, and legislation are evaluated and leveraged for community and organizational impact
  • Monitor, refine, develop, and implement program forms, policies, and procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate data collection and evaluation plans to meet programmatic goals and targets
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all internal and external reports
  • Assess programmatic progress and impact and use data to inform decision-making
  • Forecast, track, and retain required supporting documentation of all programmatic grant expenditures
  • Ensure compliance and satisfy grant requirements with federal, state, and local regulations governing ACLT programs

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Five years of experience leading education, direct services, or community-based programs
  • Technical experience or education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in social work, education, business administration, psychology or similar
  • Ability to manage multi-competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be innovative, creative, and have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Commitment to ACLT mission, vision, and values and familiar with operating community programs in the Greater Seattle or King County area focused on the unique needs and challenges of the Black community
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to inspire successful performance in team members
  • Culturally responsive approach to program leadership and development
  • Experience convening and representing the organization at community engagement events
  • Experience working in politically charged working environments and ability to manage stress with self-care techniques

Desired

  • Technical experience or education equivalent to an advanced degree in social work, education, business administration, psychology or similar
  • Program management experience in a community-based organization
  • Non-profit or community-based organization experience
