PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER/PENSIONS COUNSEL
Job description
The Democratic staff of the Senate HELP Committee seeks a pensions counsel to support the Committee’s legislative activities related to retirement policy. 1-3 years related policy or legal experience is required with experience working on ERISA matters and employee benefits law a plus. Responsibilities will include conducting research, developing legislative and policy proposals, drafting correspondence, policy memoranda and briefing materials, attending constituent and stakeholder meetings, and preparing for Congressional hearings and other legislative activities. Candidates must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure, have excellent communication skills (both written and oral), strong interpersonal skills, think creatively, and be able to juggle multiple projects at once. Hill experience is preferred, but not required. Applicants must be able to onboard and work in Washington, D.C. Vermont ties a plus.
