Hayward designs, manufactures and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Hayward Holdings designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of products needed to safely and easily operate pools. Each product line is managed by a Product Manager who is responsible for growing both revenue and profit through strategically leading a technical, rapidly changing, multi-channel category. The Product Manager for Above ground systems for the US and Canada is specifically responsible for leading a key product category as well as the geographic region, delivering new and innovative products and business plans, disrupting the segment and industry in this space, leading to an enhanced share position in the marketplace. This role will include matrix management of cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and finance. The position reports to the Director of Core products.
This position is located in our “Flagship” manufacturing plant & office at 1 Hayward Industrial Drive, Clemmons, NC 28012 (approx. 10 miles west of Winston-Salem). This is not 100% 'remote' working position.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- General management of the complete above ground equipment product line
- Grow and maintain share in our Canadian market which has significant cross over with the above ground product category
- Growth of above ground equipment product line through NPI or product line expansion
- In concert with marketing, develop the appropriate marketing messaging by channel that highlights the value propositions and superiority claims of the products
- Identify, develop plans and execute on cross functional business opportunities between channels and business unit categories
- Product category leader for all above ground equipment product line products as well as the Canadian product portfolio
- Develops and updates 3-year Product Business Plan including top-line revenue, market share, product development, gross margin, operating income, and strategies for achievement
- Develops and updates 5-year Product Roadmap, including new product development, research opportunities, acquisitions, and product rationalization; ties to 3-year Product Business Plan
- Represents Hayward to the industry as the expert for all aspects of the product line, ultimately establishing him/herself and Hayward as the conspicuous Industry expert for the business
- Leads all product line VOC efforts, becoming the product line “Voice of the Customer” representative to all internal Hayward departments
- Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to develop plans to maximize revenue, profit, and market share
- Monitors market and competitors’ product technology changes, recognizing opportunities for new and expanding products
- Manages SKU rationalization of assigned Hayward product line to minimize excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory

- Reports the following, exhibiting comprehensive insight and command of business performance including associated financial metrics.General Business Plan

Other business and product related reports as necessary
New Product Development
- Champion of all new product development for all pool filtration systems and white goods
- Leader of all assigned portfolio product development projects.
- Team member for all filtration system and white goods product development projects
- Directly responsible for all NPD deliverables, including Scoreboard, VOC, and CAR
- Responsible for internal and field training plan for product line
Pricing
- Develops and recommends pricing strategy which will result in maximizing revenue, gross margin dollars, and gross margin percent
- Maintains competitive price matrix
- Works closely with Marketing and VPs of Sales and Product Management to develop special programs for product lines
Forecasting
- “Owns” the forecast.
- Analyze “channel inventory” trends and adjust forecast accordingly
- Develops and supports demand forecast for all products
- Delivers market segmentation analysis, market trends and opportunity analysis
Marketing
- In combination with Marketing team, develops annual plan and budget for all marketing collateral, events and product-specific programs including advertising, literature, and trade shows in context of overall sales strategy and budget
- Supports Marketing efforts with timely direction or approval of product-specific collateral
- Channel management
Qualifications:
- A Strong desire to win, learn and have fun along the way
- 3+ years of product management or product engineering experience required
- Extensive experience in new product development and introduction
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Strong business analysis and reporting skills
- Solid understanding of marketing, engineering, and sales functions
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills

- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to clearly communicate to sales, customers, and executive/leadership teams

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
- Must be able to build out complex models and proforma business cases
- Proficiency in Cognos, PowerBi, Cognos, and Salesforce is a plus
- Direct experience with hydraulics within manufacturing is a plus
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Business Management or Engineering degree required; MBA preferred
TRAVEL
- This position requires 25%-35% travel. Travel includes to/from Hayward manufacturing facilities, R&D partners, trade shows, and customers throughout North America
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $112,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
