Joining ADI’s Enhanced Imaging and Interpretation (EII) Technology Group as part of the Systems Team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will specify and develop innovative Time-of-Flight (TOF) camera solutions and contribute to the components roadmap definition to advance ADI’s depth sensing market position in consumer, automotive, and industrial markets. This role offers a unique opportunity for candidates to expand their expertise by being exposed to diverse functions inside or outside ADI.
Qualifications
This role requires the candidate to learn new skills quickly and become familiar with a broad set of technical domains from chip-level design to computer vision systems. The key qualifications are listed below. Strong background in the practical & theoretical operation of time-of-flight cameras or lidar is a plus.
- Strong EE knowledge on analog and digital integrated circuit design
- Design of power electronics, simple regulation architectures with understanding of trade-offs and performing simulations.
- Experience in high-speed, mixed-signal electronic circuit design and validation
- Experience in CAD tools such as Allegro, PADS.
- Embedded systems knowledge, especially ARM-based, and firmware development using C/C++ or Python
- In-depth knowledge of hardware platforms (e.g. FPGA, Application Processors) and communication protocols (e.g. SPI, I2C, MIPI, GMSL, SERDES).
- Experience in standard methodologies in PCB design, including stack up, impedance control and noise coupling.
- Ability to write comprehensive functional requirements.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas is a plus:
- Development and productization of TOF cameras
- Amplitude modulated laser-based illumination, associated drivers and associated electrical designs
- Software development and programming skills in Python or C/C++
In addition, since there will be a necessity to engage with all levels of the organization (both internal and external to ADI), the ideal candidate will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, appetite for educating and mentoring, as well as have a great attention to details.
Responsibilities
- Develop, prototype and help productize new time-of-flight camera architectures in order to meet future customers’ requirements.
- Provide board design guidelines, reference designs, critical components placement, perform board design reviews and suggest improvements
- Generate block diagrams, capture schematics and BOM and work with internal teams and external partners with multi-functional input to arrive at prototype and mass-production-ready designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IC design, software, applications, etc.) to define, benchmark, and improve chip and system-level performance, and ensure seamless system integration of all components.
- Produce training material, application notes, and white papers to increase awareness around time-of-flight imaging and ease customer adoption.
- Engage with ecosystem of 3rd-party partners to help scale technology across ADI’s different markets.
Education & experience
B.S. or M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent work experience with 7+ years of analog or digital circuit design experience.
