JOB TITLE: Principal – Early Childhood Center (ECC)
DEPARTMENT: Instruction – Designated Site
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Elementary Instruction
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time
SUPERVISES: Building Faculty and Support Staff
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s degree in Administration or Early Childhood with a valid standard Oklahoma elementary principal’s certificate
Experience: Classroom teacher experience preferred; work experience as administrator strongly preferred
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: these statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to

1. Directs site activities to increase student achievement and insure adequate progress by: a. providing instructional leadership in the planning of curriculum and the directing of school resources to address diagnosed needs; b. planning, conducting and oversight of school improvement activities c. identifying and reporting all instructional needs to support the site improvement plan, including professional development of staff and instructional materials needed d. directing of activities designed to ensure the alignment, coordination and evaluation of the written, taught and assessed curriculum e. monitors the delivery of instruction in the classroom; analyzes and diagnoses areas of deficiency and develops teacher professional growth plans; f. aligning teacher expertise with instructional needs of students;
2. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school by: a. directly supervising the teaching process b. initiating, designing and implementing programs within district guidelines to address specific needs of the school c. developing and directing a student discipline program in accordance with district guidelines and student due process

d. insuring building and staff compliance with district safety standards and procedures; plans and supervises site emergency preparedness e. participating in the selection of highly qualified site personnel, both certified and support, evaluating and disciplining of staff per district policy and the negotiated agreement, recommending termination/non-renewal of staff and orientation and development of staff
3. Develops and maintains a strong parent outreach and parent communication program by acting as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging participation.
4. Assumes responsibility for administration of the site by: a. implementing and observing all federal, state and district regulations and policies relating to the operation of the school site b. preparing or supervising the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other required paperwork c. participating in meetings as required or appropriate d. preparing and submitting site budget requests and bond fund requests; monitors expenditures of funds in compliance with established budget e. maintaining and controlling the various local funds generated by the students’ activity accounts f. conducting regular faculty meetings and other in-service activities to keep staff informed g. planning and supervising the implementation of all school activities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises, oversees and manages assistant principal, faculty, and site instructional support staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability
