The 2nd Press Operator operates all types of web printing equipment, within the Pressroom with minimal supervision, and assists in directing press crew in the efficient operation of press machines, achieving at least 100 percent of standard for waste, quality, and productivity levels.

Responsibilities also include:

• Setting up and operating all special functions and capabilities, including inline finishing, rotary cutter, and patter gluer
• Analyzing issues, providing innovative ideas for improvements, and determining/implementing solutions
• Reading and following all information on job ticket pertaining to a specific job; ensuring all necessary components to produce the job are present
• Registering press using plate cockers, kicking and twisting plates, and automatic register systems
• Consistently balancing ink and water for quality printing
• Achieving acceptable color within specified M/R standards
• Conducting a smooth transition between shifts to gain all information without interruption to production
• Providing training to crew and other employees as necessary
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area

Minimum Experience/Education Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent
• Ability to see and clearly identify all aspects of the color spectrum
• Web press experience required; Harris M1000 (6 color), Sanden Quantum UV (8 and 10 color), and/or Drent Goebel Vision (10 color) preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required
