Summary

Preschool Music Teacher

Preschool teachers at St. Stephen Lutheran Preschool must possess a passion for sharing God?s love with students, as well as skills and energy to provide an educational experience that prepares each child for kindergarten and beyond. Additionally, they should uphold the mission and vision of St. Stephen Preschool in all interactions with students, parents, and the greater Williamsburg community.

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities
Classroom responsibilities:
� Provide a joyful, positive, and safe environment for music experiences
� Provide a developmentally appropriate program of singing, moving, playing instruments, listening, and exploring simple musical concepts
� Develop clear procedures for managing instruments/props, movement activities, and seating
� Keep instruments organized and maintained. Discard broken or damaged instruments. Clean if necessary.
� Ensure that teaching space and storage space (for instruments, CD player, etc.) is clear, organized, and ready for Sunday morning activities
� Demonstrate God?s love for each student in your care

Staff responsibilities
� Communicate with Preschool Director and Teachers about any special needs or issues with individual children
� Collaborate with Preschool Director and Teachers regarding music preparation, leadership, accompaniment, etc. in special events
� Collaborate with Pastor for Chapel; 15 minutes, two times each week
� Inform Preschool Director about ordering new instruments or other supplies

Hours and other duties
� Meet with each class for 30 minutes each week. Preschool Director will determine schedule for class times
� Provide music leadership for Chapel, twice weekly
� Assist at special events as needed
� Engage in regular professional development through workshops, journals, articles, and other resources

Salary for this position with qualifications begins at $20.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Qualifications
� BS or BA degree, preferably in education
� Musical background and/or early childhood music training preferred
� Early childhood teaching experience preferred
� Must be able to sing unaccompanied and have strong vocal skills
� Must be able to teach independently
� Willingness to work with Preschool Director, Teachers, Pastor, church leaders, and church members for the benefit of St. Stephen Preschool
