Our Mathematics and Computer Science division (MCS) is seeking a Predoctoral Appointee to work on High-Performance Optimization Solvers for PETSc/TAO.
In this role, you will work with PETSc/TAO developers to produce high-performance optimization solvers for the Toolkit for Advanced Optimization (TAO). This work involves the development of optimization algorithms that are efficient on vectorized architectures, implementing the resulting solvers in a performance-portable way, and testing the implementations for efficiency. This position involves a balance between developing, testing, and documenting software, and communicating the results.
Position Requirements
Required skills and qualifications:
- Masters degree (completed within the last 0-3 years) in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a relevant engineering area
- Experience with a compiled programming language, such as C, C++, or Fortran
- Research experience in optimization
- Ability to model Argonne's core values: impact, safety, integrity, respect, and teamwork.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Experience as a PETSc/TAO developer
- Experience with high-performance computing using GPUs
- Familiarity with convex optimization methods
