Description

  • Design and conduct programs for youth ages 3 - 10 at various park locations in Plymouth to include activities such as: crafts, games, sports, playground time, staff led activities and field trips.
  • Programs include:
    • Pre-K Little Adventures Program: Tuesday - Thursday, 9:30AM -11:30AM at the Plymouth Community Center
    • All Day Playground Program: 8:00AM - 4:30PM at Bass Lake Playfield, Parkers Lake Park, Zachary Playfield, Plymouth Community Center, and Plymouth Creek Playfield)
  • Assist in management of the teen volunteer program including training, scheduling, and supervising
  • Assist in the summer inclusion program including, but not limited to, assigning inclusion staff to programs, parent communication, filing and record keeping.
  • Part-time, Monday-Friday, daytime hours ranging from 30 - 40 hours/week
  • Office and on-site duties.

Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Manager, Recreation Supervisors and Coordinators, the Playground Coordinator position will enhance the quality of life for all residents and to foster individual and community in all aspects of physical, mental, social, and environmental through recreational opportunities.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize and direct activities for all ages in a recreation setting.
  • Provide support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure quality programs for all ages.
  • Follow staff policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all staff and participants follow the established policies and procedures.
  • Provide a safe, fun, and appropriate experience of all participants

Qualifications

  • Previous experience planning, organizing and coordinating children's activities required
  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities
  • Previous experience working with and managing volunteers of all ages
  • At least 2 years’ experience supervising staff (seasonal, part-time or full-time)
  • Degree in Parks and Recreation, Education or related field or currently working towards a degree
  • At least 2 years working with children
  • Minimum age 18 years old
