About the Position
Reporting to the site Safety and Health Manager, the incumbent provides support and leadership for the implementation and execution of Safety and Health strategies, goals, and objectives to meet Plant, Corporate and Government objectives/requirements for Health and Safety.
This is a very active “boots on the ground” role focused on activities that promote a safety culture where “No One Gets Hurt” while engage associates in safety programs to maintain status as an OSHA VPP Star Site.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ERT trainings schedules to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to work with vendors to maintain supplies and equipment within the Safety Department.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to update, maintain, and improve procedures at the facility.
  • Ability to conduct investigations, risk assessments, etc. as required.
  • Work with the Safety team to review and prioritize safety work orders.
  • Responsible for data collecting, data implementation, and working with the safety team to use that data to build trends and focus areas.
  • Work with the safety team to conduct weekly safety meetings.
  • Responsible for aligning communication between the Contractor and Goodyear.
  • Recognize potential HSE issues and monitor corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Lead new hire and contractor orientations
  • Be an active participant in employee engagement activities and safety initiatives at the facility.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with department managers and supervisors to provide for and ensure that employees receive training and development in promoting a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Assist in formulating, implementing, and maintaining policies, programs, and techniques necessary to achieve company goals and regulatory requirements related to safety issues.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Responsible for safety teams time and attendance records.
  • The ability to fill in the role of the Safety Manager in their absence or as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • ERT experience or Fire Fighting desired
  • 3 years Operations/Plant experience
  • To have or the ability to obtain one of the following BCSP certifications within 1 year. CHST, OHST ASP, CSP.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, rules, and regulations
  • Self-Motivated and personable
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Has a “safety-first” mindset
  • Able to work a flexible schedule
  • Experience with Excel, Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details
  • May perform repetitive and non-repetitive physical duties that may require lifting, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending, climbing, working in awkward positions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge in the following areas: Confined Space, Hazardous communications, LOTO. Electrical Safety, Industrial Power vehicles, Emergency Response, Emergency Evacuation Planning, Hot Work, Heat Stress, and understands Stop Work Authority, etc.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with department managers and supervisors to provide for and ensure that employees receive training and development in promoting a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Assist in formulating, implementing, and maintaining basic policies, programs, and techniques necessary to achieve company goals and regulatory requirements related to safety and environmental issues.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,250.00 - $121,181.00 per year
