Highland District Hospital is a critical access designated, 25-bed acute care facility. We currently employ more than 400 people and benefit from the services of community volunteers. Our medical staff includes over 100 physicians and 15 mid-level providers, representing over 25 specialties and subspecialties. While we are a community-centered hospital, we are also known for our technology and sophisticated healthcare services. Our service area includes over 65,000 residents from Highland County and surrounding counties.

Position Summary: The Phlebotomist will draw blood and receive or obtain various specimens for laboratory analysis. The position requires that specimens be obtained from neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric and disabled individuals. He/she answers incoming phone calls and interacts continuously with outpatients, emergency room patients and inpatients. He/she will frequently communicate results to physicians, patients and other allied health professionals. He/she reviews printed copies, making them available to various locations and persons.

- Performs venipuncture and capillary procedures, enters patient information and patient results into the laboratory information system.
- Must be familiar with laboratory terminology and results.
- Be knowledgeable of safety standards and practices as mandated by OSHA, CLIA, TJC, CAP.
- Supports Highland District Hospital’s mission to serve the community by providing accessible, efficient, quality health care in an atmosphere of compassion and excellence.
- Participates in continuing education programs and demonstrate a consistent, reliable attendance pattern.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Must have HS diploma and successful completion of phlebotomy training program.
