Job Summary
- Pharmacy Technician-in-Training assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments.
- This entry-level position participates in and completes Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program within 10 months of hire in order to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Upon completion of the education program and successful Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, the technician-in-training will be promoted into the role of Pharmacy Technician.
- Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program consists of 400 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities.
- Avera Health requires a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the Pharmacy Technician Education Program.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Certification/Licensure/Registrations
- Unrestricted registration with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of employment.
- Become certified by National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 2 years upon hire.
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
- $17.50 - $23.50 per hour
