Homeward Alliance is a Fort Collins-based nonprofit that provides a continuum of services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. In addition to nine programs, Homeward Alliance is also the manager/overseer of the Murphy Center for Hope, a resource center for people experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in Larimer County.

The Peer Recovery Navigator position is a part of Homeward Alliance’s Murphy Center. This position is a full-time (40 hours weekly), temporary position (operating under a 15-month grant). The goal of this position is to connect people in need of treatment, with opioid use disorder other substance use disorders, to medication assisted treatment (MAT) and other services within Larimer county and potential neighboring counties. The Peer Recovery Navigator’s interface will be with Murphy Center guests, county jails, local sheriff and police departments, Re-Entry organizations, Colorado Department of Corrections, community corrections, diversion programs, probation, parole, recovery community organizations on the adjudicated population, judicial districts, municipal court systems and alternative court systems. This position will work closely with the Summitstone Mental Health Partners Peer Support Specialist as well as participate in Intentional Peer Support Model Training and Bi-Weekly co-reflection supervision. Peer Recovery Navigator and be required to engage with other Peer Recovery Support groups (COSLAW, YARROW Collective and other agencies with Peer Support).

This position will require a flexible schedule including, office hours, and community outreach hours.

This position requires utilizing a personal, dependable vehicle. Homeward Alliance will reimburse for mileage.

Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to submit motor vehicle record.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Build healthy, professional relationships with individuals who struggle with Opioid Use Disorder and other substance use disorders, and refer them to MAT and to community organizations who provide services to this population

· Spend approximately 25% of time with FUSE clients (details TBD)

· Promote the value of self-help, peer support, and personal empowerment to foster recovery

· Assist clients in developing action plans post hospitalization and/or incarceration

· Work closely with all providers of MAT within Larimer county and surrounding counties (including OPTS, OBOTs, hospitals)

· Assist in the development of collaboration between community organizations, the justice system, hospitals and MAT providers

· Remain educated on community resources to which you would be connecting your clients

· Learning and gaining full knowledge and understanding of the requirements of this grant

· Maintain regular reporting in required systems with respect to activities around these responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Must have personal experience in receiving behavioral health services, have successfully navigated through the behavioral health system, and is ready to help others on their personal journey

● Must have, at minimum, two years of sobriety

● Expectation to pursue or maintain certification with IC&RC as a certified peer specialist (Homeward Alliance can pay for training)

● Knowledge/use of VI-SPDAT a plus

● Ability to establish and develop effective relationships with participants, staff, volunteers, community groups, current and potential donors, corporate sponsors, agency partners and other key stakeholders

● Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

● Creative and passionate with a proactive approach to problem solving

● Outgoing personality with an eagerness to engage with clients and make community connections to increase exposure of the program

● Self-motivated time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment;

● Bilingual preferred
