SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Payroll Assistant will work in a collaborate environment with the Payroll Manager and other members of the Finance department resulting in employee labor being properly distributed to internal and external customer projects. This position is for those who enjoys working in an assistant administrative role.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Position Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and update all current state and local tax information with ADP along with tax agencies, including state unemployment
  • Assist in processing semi-monthly payroll in ADP
  • Prepare and file local tax reports with state agencies
  • Creates and maintains employee payroll files
  • Creates reports, schedules, and spreadsheets for internal and external customers
  • Provide assistance with external audits
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by payroll manager

EDUCATION & YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years professional experience; 1-3 years of experience in an accounting environment a plus. Use of ADP Payroll and/or Costpoint accounting software considered a plus.

LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL STATURE:
Works under general supervision of Payroll Manager

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Working knowledge of ADP Payroll system and payroll accounting experience a plus
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Familiarity with Costpoint accounting system a plus
  • Understanding of accounting internal controls and Government contracting industry
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
