Position Summary

Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for a part-time instructor to teach Human Services 101 – Introduction to Human Services at the Santa Barbara County Jail on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 -9:35 pm, beginning in fall 2023. This is an 8-week class that is being offered from 8/14 – 10/4. Future classes may be taught at the Santa Maria campus or the Lompoc Valley Center, and could be a day/night class.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/or off-campus classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, psychology, sociology or social welfare (i.e., MSW),
OR
Bachelor’s degree for an accredited institution in one of the aforementioned academic fields plus two years of full-time experience in the workplace. Master’s degree preferred.

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
