Candidates must be dedicated to having high expectations, supporting the needs for all students, and working with alternative learning programs. Candidates must be motivated to teach using 21st century teaching skills including project based learning, applying content to real world issues and developing interdisciplinary connections. Candidates must desire working on a team of teachers to continually improve and innovate instruction.
Requirements:
Current Oregon teaching license valid for grades 9-12 with Technology Education/CTE endorsement. Ability to communicate with parents, work effectively with an educational team, parents, and community, excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and ability to implement effective teaching practices including the integration of technology and project-based learning. Special emphasis on effective teaching strategies, assessment practices, and higher-level thinking skills.
Qualifications Desired:
Successful experience teaching in an alternative setting. Successful experience teaching Technology/CTE curriculum. Experience with alternative learning programs. Preference given to candidates with Spanish language skills, ability to integrate technology into the curriculum, and experience with talented and gifted, and at-risk students. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. CLASSIFICATION:
Part time, Probationary, Catalyst Alternative High School.
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:
8 hours per day; 190 days per year starting August 2023. Position includes 2 days for New Teacher In-Service prior to start.
Salary range $23,321 - $47,955. Newberg Public Schools pays 6% PERS contribution, provides a generous insurance cap, long-term disability and life insurance.
