Job Title: Park Manager III, POST or non POST
This recruitment is to fill a Park Manager III position. If you are currently POST certified you will continue to maintain your POST certification in this position. If you are not currently POST certified, you will take this position as a NON POST position.

Job Description:
Come work at one of the most complex and challenging State Parks in the system! Put your skills to the test, grow, and learn as this park will expose you to every aspect of operations. Deer Creek State Park is a recreation park with activities on land and water. Park staff also patrol in the Strawberry Valley.

Principle Duties:

  • Supervise a full time staff of four people, directly supervising two of those, plus about numerous seasonals and volunteers.
  • Duties entail personnel actions including recruitment, hiring, firing, performance reviews, delegating assignments, corrective actions, etc.
  • Also hosts visitors and provides visitor services for day use and overnight uses.
  • Manage facilities and operations of the park.
  • Manage contracts and permits including concession contracts, special use permits, USFWS permits, requests for proposals, grants, and resource management plan.
  • Patrols waterways, trails, parks, etc.
  • Enforce applicable State of Utah Laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Manage programs including Law Enforcement, Planning and Development, Aquatic Invasive Species, Off-Highway Vehicle, Boating, and trails.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and be actively involved with park partners and local government agencies such as Reclamation, Provo River Water Users, Wildlife Resources, Heber Valley Tourism and Economic Development, Wasatch County, business partners, and more.
  • Manage a large operating budget close to $700,000

Example of Duties

  • Manages a state park, recreation areas and/or waterways and park programs.
  • Oversees parks, boating and off-highway program elements and/or manages resources.
  • Patrols waterways, trails, parks, etc., to enforce applicable State of Utah Laws, rules and regulations.
  • Supervises or assists with the supervision of subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Manages or assists with accounting or budget activities.
  • Provides assistance and interacts with local governmental agencies, private groups/organizations and the public regarding applicable laws and rules and partnerships.
  • Hosts visitors and provides visitor services.
  • Maintains and repairs park facilities and grounds; maintains and operates tools and equipment.
