Job description
ABSTRACT OF THE POSITION:
Home Visiting Parent Educators will work collaboratively with low-income families to achieve successful outcomes for expectant mothers, infants, toddlers, and preschool children of all backgrounds and abilities. Parent Educators will use the Parents as Teachers (PAT) and the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program models (or other curricula as appropriate) to support parents as their childs first and most important teacher.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Recruits families and determines eligibility based on program guidelines.
- Enrolls eligible children and maintains a waiting list for future enrollment.
- Plans and implements parent orientations and socialization activities.
- Develops individual plans for children and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Supports parents in providing a consistent routine and environment for children.
- Establishes positive relationships with families and participates in ongoing parent training.
- Promotes access to community services and coordinates with local agencies.
- Maintains records and produces reports on child and family progress.
- Assesses child progress and adjusts curriculum planning as needed.
- May require daily and occasional travel to various locations.
- Ensures compliance with all program regulations, policies, and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds including files, laptop computers, lesson plans, home visiting supplies or other necessary items with or without material handling equipment.
- Must be able to work for long periods of time while maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
- Must be able to sit at a table or desk for long periods of time with occasional standing, walking, squatting, or reaching.
- Daily travel by personal vehicle to visit clients in their homes.
- Must be able to travel infrequently by car, bus, airplane, or train for, training or other program activities within assigned area(s) or out of state as needed.

Education & Work Experience
- Required to hold a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).
- Prefer Associate Degree (or higher) in child development, human services, or a related field.
- Six (6) months of experience in early childhood education or family services is preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is very helpful.
- Must be at least 21 years old, have held a driver's license for at least 3 years, and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.
- Read, analyze, and interpret policies and educational materials.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, internet applications, and other software to access resources and complete tasks.
- Interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds, work well in a team or independently, and follow Program and SCF policies and procedures.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule to fulfill job functions and program responsibilities.
- Other requirements include acquiring CPR/First Aid training, Live Scan Fingerprinting, negative TB results, physical, and passing drug/alcohol testing.
Wage
- $31,590.00 Annual Wage
- $1,215.00 per Pay-Period (75 Hours per Pay-Period)
- $16.20 per Hour (37.5 Hours per Week)
