Location / Schedule: MCHS has licensed offices in over 30 schools in Montgomery County. This position provides the flexibility of working with a school schedule, Monday – Friday. Main office available if needed for appointments after school or when the buildings are closed.

MCHS offers expert and caring behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and adults throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.

We are currently hiring School-Based Outpatient Therapists to join our Pottstown Outpatient Services Department. At our Pottstown office we service Montgomery County community by offering:

  • Outpatient Therapy
  • School-Based Outpatient Therapy
  • IBHS
  • Psychiatric Services

Position Summary: The School-Based Outpatient Therapist (SBOP) provides individual, family and/or group therapy to children, adolescents and adults. He/She assists the individual to promote independence in managing mental health needs and/or behavior problems. Clinicians have the unique opportunity to work with students in the school setting, in their own office licensed by the state. Clinicians work closely with school staff in receiving referrals and coordinating care. This position has the potential to be a full time or part time position depending on the applicants availabilty.

Summary of Essential Position Functions:

  • Provide therapy (individual, family or group) to clients on a regularly scheduled basis – minimum of 30 hours per week expected
  • Complete all paperwork within policy time frames
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Make referrals to appropriate community resources
  • Transfer skills to client to promote independence
  • Comply with all state mandated regulations and all training requirements
  • Participates in supervision within policy time frames
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • A mental health clinician, including psychiatrist, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker, OR social worker with a graduate degree that required a clinical OR mental health service practicum. Licensure is preferred but not required for this position.
  • Individual and family therapy experience
  • Knowledge of mental health systems and community resources
  • Must be able to intervene and control agitated clients through non-physical interventions. Hazards include risk of exposure to disease and risk of physical injury associated with psychiatric patients who have the potential to act out or lose control

Credentials and Special/Technical Skills:

  • Clearances for Child Abuse, FBI and State Criminal, CPR and First Aid
