Job description
GENERAL:
Organizational Assistant will report to the LSPA (Lafayette Society for Performing Arts)/Lafayette Ballet Company Artistic Director. They will primarily work in these areas:
- Organizing a large costume storage and staging room
- Organizing the storage of stage props
- Sorting costumes by role and sizes for dancers
- May be working with dance instructors to fit children's costumes ages 3 thru 18
- It is understood that this position will be part-time.
TIME COMMITMENT:
This is a part-time job with much flexibility of when hours are worked, with an estimated 5-10 hours per week. More weekly hours are available surrounding the larger productions that occur the first weekend in December, a weekend in March, and a weekend in May. Some weeks will require more time and others less.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Hand Stitching knowledge a plus
- Sewing experience a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Artistic Director to plan what areas of focus for each week.
- Work with dancer costume fittings.
- Must be comfortable working with dance students and parents.
- Must complete a background check for working with children.

The Lafayette Society for Performing Arts, the umbrella arts organization that houses Lafayette Center for Dance and the Lafayette Ballet Company, supports a mission to promote, cultivate, nurture, and enhance the performing arts experiences for all LaGrange, Greater West Georgia, and East Alabama regions. LSPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entirely dependent upon charitable giving, grants, and sponsorships to meet our vitality mission of serving the arts in our community and was established in 1981.
Lafayette Center for Dance (LCD) began in August 2010 in LaGrange, Georgia. Starting with about 85 students, LCD faculty began the journey of sharing their love of dance with the children of the Troup County community. Thirteen years later, LCD has grown to over 300 students and a staff of 15+ wonderful Dance Educators and Student Teachers. At LCD, we offer the finest technical dance training while focusing on movement as an art form. LCD focuses on building self-confidence through movement, which we hope will spill over into the dancer’s everyday life experiences. Lafayette Center for Dance is committed to providing quality dance instruction in a fun, professional environment.
