We are currently seeking a Dispensing Optician for our Industrial Safety Division. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team!

Job Summary

Minimum Starting Wage: $20

On-site dispensing performed at various Industrial Safety Account locations. Measure, fit and adapt lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specifications. Assist client with frame selection. Make quotations and relay pertinent information to customer. Prepare work order for lab containing any special instructions for fabricating Rx. Verify exactness of finished product and dispense/adjust to fit client. Travel is required within the Minneapolis-St Paul Metro area.

Duties:

• Measure client s bridge, eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance and optical centers using proper measuring techniques and devices.
• Assist clients in eyewear frame & lens selection for individual prescription.
• Prepare Rx work order and instructions for lab.
• Verify finished product for accuracy and dispense eyewear to client.
• Make proper adjustments or repairs to client s eyewear.
• Perform administrative support for our Safety Division.

Experience/Qualifications

• ABO Certification required
• Optical background with dispensing experience preferred
• Understanding of ANSI Z87.1 Standards
• Strong verbal & written communication skills
• PC knowledge & accurate data entry skills
• Must be organized and detail-oriented
• Able to work under limited supervision
• Position requires flexibility and availability to work varied hours
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Must have reliable transportation along with current & valid Driver s License and insurable driving record that complies with the Walman Optical Co. Motor Vehicle Policy.
