Overview:
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Operations Supervisors to take part in building the most complex product in the world.
The Operations Supervisor Pipe Weld must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Qualifications:

The Operations Supervisor Pipe Weld must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.
Responsiblities include:
- Ensure RT Pipe Welding work is being performed to all applicable standards, compliant to procedures, and best practices to maximize First Time Quality performance by establishing and leveraging welder critical skills matrix, driving continuous training to improve bench strength in all weld processes, material, and configurations, and driving efforts to maximize mechanized welding for all viable applications.
- Must be knowledgeable, experienced with demonstrated competencies in Pipe Welding processes, procedures, and equipment.
- Must have strong communications and planning skills to ensure that work is properly sequenced to maximize mechanization.
- Must have good interpersonal, verbal and written skills and be capable of maintaining excellent customer, senior EB management, and trade relations.
- Regularly interact with the Waterfront trades in supporting horizontal outfitting major module ship-outs, peer supervisors, and Area Superintendents to provide quality oversight of work. Regular interaction is also needed with Welding Engineering, Quality Assurance, Cleanliness Advocates, and Audit and Assessment.
- Attend and be a key contributor in all related RT Welding Process and Performance Improvement initiatives within the waterfront trades or facility and enterprise wide via the Piping Discipline Steering Team (DST) or area Quality Improvement Group (QIG)
- Provide necessary feedback to training, operations, quality departments based on observations of deck-plate work and key performance indicators.
- Spend significant time on the deck-plates providing direction, coaching, observing, and solving problems and must be able to provide metrics for monitor performance of the RT Welding Team.
- Coordinate with the pipe welding community at Quonset and Groton to ensure best practices are communicated and used across all functional areas.
- Must be willing to work all shifts and overtime as required.

Qualifications:
Required:
- 1 + years pipe welding experience
- Proficiency with the following computer programs: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; EWP; Business Objects
- High School Education or equivalent
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
Preferred:
- Minimum 3 years of Shipyard, Navy, or Military Leadership Experience
- Quonset Point Operations Experience
- Steam Plant and Reactor Plant Experience
