We are in search of an Operations Manager to oversee operations during first shift at our local recycling plant. The Operations Manager supervises a team of 40+ Workers and plans, directs, and controls production activities for 1st Shift while assuring safety, production and quality expectations are met at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Supervises site operations: production, sorting, loading, unloading, inventory, and labor.
- Supervise and enforce Safety adherence and compliance with OSHA and EPA safety regulations.
- Prepares daily schedule and assigns tasks to workers.
- Provides hands-on support to all departments: Operations and Maintenance.
- Assist Manager with the improvement of operational processes.
- Assist with heavy equipment operation when needed: forklift, front-end loader and yard truck.
- Provides training, orientation, and evaluation to new hires.
- Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic safety meetings.
- Assist Manager with the improvement of operational processes.
- Assist with cleanliness and maintenance of the equipment and fleet.
- Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions to Plant Manager.
- Prepares, updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of, or willing to learn baler and conveyor systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver's License.
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Microsoft Office Experience (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Five years of supervisory experience.
- Three years of production supervisory experience in Plant/Warehouse environment.
- Two years of plant maintenance or mechanical experience.
- Familiarity with Safety and OSHA standards and knowledge of the occupational hazards.
- One year of experience in operating and maintaining light or medium equipment.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to get into small, confined places.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to routinely lift 30 or more pounds.
- Good hand eye coordination, ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and twist at the waist.
- Ability to work in an airborne dust and dirt particles, with various climatic temperatures.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Ability to perform tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment.
- Ability to work overtime and some weekends when required.
- Bilingual preferred (English-Spanish).
