As a public health resource, Cataldo offers training and education to the healthcare and emergency medical community through the Cataldo Education Center. This includes certification training for new employees as well as the training needed for career advancement. Through our partnerships with local healthcare facilities, we have developed a mobile integrated health program, SmartCare, which provides in home treatment for patients. We also have delivered more than 1.6 million Covid-19 vaccines and continue to operate testing and vaccinations sites throughout the state of Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager assists in overseeing the Operation of the EMS Division, which includes Chair Car, BLS and ALS Resources. This Manager will assist the Director of Operations with tasks as noted in the Duties and Responsibilities section of this document.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Functions to the appropriate level of certification as listed with OEMS.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of company policies and standards.
  • Assume full command of daily operations when on duty, and be able to multitask while coaching employees, and ensuring all employees are meeting requirements for clinical care
  • Reviews and recommends changes in regard to crew’s quarters, posting locations, equipment and working conditions as necessary.
  • Oversees and assists in management of Clinical Field Supervisors
  • Oversees the Employee review process to include, assigning employees to Field Supervisors for appropriate review completion within 1 month of their review date.
  • Ensures the above reviews are complete and turned into HR timely.
  • Provides leadership guidance & accountability to all field personnel.
  • Works with Scheduling team to ensure daily schedules are fully staffed and manages any issues that arise with staffing.
  • Works Collaboratively with other members of the management team to accomplish common goals.
  • Attends off-hour events to represent Cataldo/Atlantic Ambulance at events such as Chamber of Commerce, Special Nursing Home or Hospital events as needed.
  • Handles all requests for Detail/Stand-by events and ensures that the appropriate emails are sent to the detail group for scheduling and booking. Ensures that details are staffed and acts as the primary point of contact for these events.
  • Assists in overseeing day to day dispatch operations to get calls completed and prioritized as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least the last 3 years' experience in managing employees.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a working Paramedic in a busy 911 system
  • Ability to lead, coach and hold employees accountable to policies & procedures
  • Excellent Communications skills
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends with a non-traditional weekly schedule (must work 2 weekends/month)
  • Holds current certification as an EMT in the Commonwealth.
  • Maintains ancillary certifications as required by OEMS.
  • Experience in disaster drills preferred but not required.
  • Maintains Quarterly skills and requirements in accordance with Cataldo Policy and Procedure.
  • Acceptable Disciplinary Employee file.
  • Displays an exemplary attitude and behavior acting in a professional manner at all times.
