The Position

We are seeking experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologists with PET CT experience and credentialing to perform a variety of PET CT Scan Imaging exams at our Rego Park Imaging location.

As Northwell Health’s soon to open (Fall 2023) affiliate Ambulatory Imaging Center in Rego Park NY, Rego Park Imaging an affiliate site of Northwell Health will pride itself on delivering the most advanced and complex imaging care with compassion and respect, playing a critical role towards advancing the care plan for the patients in and around the Queens Community. Located at 95-25 Queens Blvd Rego Park NY 11374, Rego Park Imaging will be Northwell’s largest affiliate Ambulatory Imaging Center in size, scope, complexity & patient volume. Comprised of both a Body Imaging Division and a Breast Imaging Division, a team of 30+FTEs will provide imaging in CT, MRI, US, X-ray, Dexa, Mammography, and PET CT; all used for diagnostic imaging, and many used for image guided procedures. Job Responsibility

  • Prepares patient for exam.
    • Explains procedure to patient in easy-to-understand terms and addresses patient questions/concerns.
    • Verifies patient identification, procedure appropriateness, adherence to exam preparation, and pregnancy status.
    • Efficiently executes prescribed procedure according to standard operating procedure and imaging protocol.
    • Requests outside image retrieval, as required.
  • Performs various nuclear medicine, PET/CT, and/or SPECT/CT exams.
    • Orders and prepares radiopharmaceuticals for the prescribed exam.
    • Administers prescribed radiopharmaceuticals to patient through intravenous access or oral ingestion. Utilizes appropriate flush technique for existing IV lines, as required.
  • Processes and transfers images for clinical review and archives in PACS
    • Labels images with accurate patient demographics and required exam specific information.
    • Assesses images for misregistration, quality, and accuracy.
    • Completes necessary paperwork and prepares images for physician interpretation.
  • Performs various quality control measures according to established policies, procedures, regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
    • Performs quality control procedures on prepared radiopharmaceutical kit/dose, as needed, prior to patient administration.
    • Performs regular quality control testing on imaging, hot lab, and radiopharmaceutical dispensing equipment.
    • Maintains and monitors radioactive packages and waste according to NYS regulations.
    • Regularly surveys and monitors specified areas for radioactive contamination, in accordance with NYS requirements.
    • Performs blood cell labeling according to department protocol.
    • Properly handles and discards radioactive waste.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

  • Aligning Imaging’s strategic vision to meet the needs of Northwell Health’s clinical programs in the surrounding communities.
  • Strengthen existing relationships, while establishing new relationships with referring physicians and surrounding communities to ensure timely access to imaging care.

Job Qualification

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program, required.
  • Current New York State Department of Health licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, required.
  • Current R.T. (N) registration with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) OR CNMT registration with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), required.
  • Current R.T.(CT) registration with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) OR NMTCB(CT) certification with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), required within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification, preferred.
  • Prior experience in PET/CT, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
