Position Information

There is one vacancy with the Department of Customer Services, Motor Vehicle, Licensing and Permits, Driver License Branch, Motor Vehicle Control Section. This position is located at the Kapahulu Motor Vehicle Control Facility located at 1112 Kapahulu Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816. Under the supervision of the Motor Control Inspector II, the incumbent performs inspectional and investigative tasks relative to the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations governing the operations, personnel, vehicles, equipment, and business practices of common carrier companies and motor vehicle safety check stations; and performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At the time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of experience in inspectional, investigative, instructional or repair work which shall have included ascertaining the overall mechanical, operating and safety condition of motor vehicles.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation. During the probationary period, selectees shall be fingerprinted, photographed, and subject to a background investigation by the Honolulu Police Department.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, your application will be further evaluated. Your score will be based on the quality, quantity and/or recency of your training and experience.
