Job Description
TeamLMI is assisting a leading hardwood and lumber supplier in San Bernardino County in hiring a Mill Production Manager to oversee operations and overall production supervision in its lumber mill. To be successful in this position, individuals must have a minimum of 5 years production management experience in a mill or plant environment, be highly organized, possess strong leadership skills, be proficient with technology and enjoy a fast paced work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise mill employees and provide effective coaching, accountability, and discipline as needed to maintain a healthy work environment and improve the performance of the team
- Monitor work activities within the mill to ensure production requirements and efficiencies are achieved
- Be accountable for production goals and communicate goals and objectives with employees
- Ensure equipment, supplies and mill facility are in appropriate working condition to meet business and production needs
- Pro-actively work to identify and assist in resolving safety, quality and productivity issues
- Produce production reports for executive management
- Enforce rules and regulations
- Maintain a positive safety culture and ensure that employees are trained and adhere to company and departmental procedures
- Responsible for increase in efficiency and reduction of waste
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years production management experience in a mill or plant environment is required including progressive supervisory and leadership experience
- Experience with hardwood milling equipment is a plus
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required
- Mechanical ability, drive and aptitude for working with equipment and basic knowledge of industrial mechanical systems
- Basic understanding of OSHA safety regulations
- Sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency using computers including comfort using modern software technology and equipment is required
- Strong reasoning and problem solving skills
- Strong work ethic with high personal standards for quality of work
- Organized, team player who is considerate and able to work well with others
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
