Medical Technologist
Schenectady, NY 12308

Duration: 13 weeks Contract (with possible extension)
Shift Information: Evening shifts (3PM-11PM); Alternate weekends/holidays required.
Pay Rate: $55-62/hr. on W2 with Benefits

Basic Functions
Performs, evaluates and reports routine and STAT laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids. Tests are performed using various automated and manual methods. The Medical Technologist hired for the purpose of working on 2nd and 3rd shifts must be able to work in the following laboratory departments: Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Serology, Urinalysis, Blood Bank and perform all required test procedures in each department.
The Medical Technologist is responsible for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control evaluation and problem solving, and quality assurance data collection.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

• Must be licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department.
• Baccalaureate or Associate degree in Medical Technology or related science field.
• Must meet NYS Department of Health qualifications for Medical Technologist as stated in Public Health Law Part 58.1-1.5.
• Previous experience working in a highly automated environment preferred.
• Independent, mature, self-motivated, reliable and responsible
• Able to serve the needs of patients ages neonatal to geriatric.
• Able to deal with all types of customers in a pleasant, professional manner.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills and a strong ability to multitask
