Medical Biller Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements:

Minimum 1 -2 years of hands-on experience/ billing training in the medical field required

Well-versed with CPT/ICD codes and modifiers and MIPS HCPCS codes.

Proficient in electronic medical records

Job Duties:

Perform posting charges

Perform completion of claims to payers

Conduct duties in a professional and timely fashion

Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers

Process claims

Resolve denial instances

Achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided

Deploy, maintain and report on various programs

Do Medicare coding and billing reviews

Do Medi-Cal billing and coding reviews

Conduct audits on our billing system.

Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies

Receiving and reviewing patients’ charts and documents for verification and accuracy

Following up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other staff members

Soft Skills:

Effective communication skills

Basic computer skills, such as sending emails, typing, and using spreadsheets

Interact virtually with clients and patients

Creative problem-solving skills

Work independently

Collaborate well with others

Multitask

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

• Day shift

• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Medical Billers & Coders: 1 year (Preferred)

• ICD-10: 1 year (Preferred)

Salary:

The average pay for medical billers is $33,218 per year, but your salary may vary depending on the applicant’s experience level and the company’s location and requirements.
