We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer that is responsible to contribute to the success of ESCO through new product development, standards, innovative and on time systems to achieve customer satisfaction in line with ESCO business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work at all times in a manner which gives the highest consideration to safety, as defined by local regulations and Company procedures, this includes the use of PPE;
  • Work with suppliers, contractors and clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Maintaining the highest levels of business ethics is imperative. Clear, accurate transmittal of knowledge / data between clients, cross functional teams and management.
  • Schedule Management – Input into the relevant portion of responsibilities during schedule creation and management of own work load to achieve overall schedule.
  • Concept Drawings: Concept designs, including 3D model, General Arrangement drawings and design for manufacture drawings to facilitate the transfer of information and required design intent against client or Esco driven user requirement specifications. Review with cross functional teams to ensure compliance against specifications and feasibility of design. Sourcing of custom and standard components, prototyping and conduction of trials to ensure equipment suitability for their process.
  • Manufacturing Drawings: Generation of 2D drawings to be issued to production. To include sheet metal Bending drawings, welding drawings and assembly instruction guides.
  • Documentation: Preparation of O&M Manuals and Technical Files. Hand-over documentation pack and presentation to production to allow sufficient transfer of data and knowledge for the manufacture and assembly of the new product.
  • Budgets: Awareness and tracking to adhere to budgets and compliance through value engineered designs, sourcing of parts, specification adherence, schedule, time management and planning.
  • Assembly / Testing: To have a hands-on approach to understand the challenges of Assembly and Testing of the equipment for continuous design improvements. Attend project team meetings and close-out meetings to ensure all issues are captured and implemented back into the standards or future designs.
  • Standard Library Development: To develop and maintain a library of standard parts designs, including management of revisions and traceability of changes for ISO compliance. Develop a product design guide for each product type to ensure consistency of design from Engineer to Engineer and use as training material for new design employees.
  • Training: In addition to own training, actively share personal knowledge and skills to further educate others in order to develop the team.
  • Develop to understand requirements for Aseptic and Non-Aseptic Isolator Systems and their construction in order to maintain and hold pressure, airflow and functionality suitable for its application and requirements to comply with cGMP designs.
  • Utilize industry reference guides to provide a compliant system including cGMP in the compliant construction of equipment.
  • Potential, but rare Travel to other Esco sites to facilitate the transfer of developed design into production and handover to the local team. A detailed comprehensive design and supporting documentation is critical to this handover.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of life science applications and laboratory equipment.
  • Able to read electrical and architect drawings
  • Possess valid US passport, driver’s license, and credit card for traveling.
  • Being able to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Able to work in a team-based environment and help other team members in need.
  • Organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated, willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Able to quickly learn and apply the knowledge & creativity to solve new challenges.
  • Possess superb customer service skills and follow-up with open issues until they’re settled.
  • Able to pass the substance and background check.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional in appearance and speech.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and must be willing to travel when necessary.
  • Good working attitude, detail oriented, adaptability and willingness to learn
