Mechanical Design Engineer – Evansville, IN
We are looking for an experienced mechanical designer near Evansville, IN with a solid background in developing mechanical designs and assembly packages.
Responsibilities
- Utilize SolidWorks modeling software to design equipment based on quotation and customer specifications
- Ability to turn conceptual designs into functional designs
- Determine material, heat treat, plating etc., requirements for designs
- Develop assembly and detail packages for manufacturing
- Develop bill of materials for Purchasing Department
- Create cycle time charts for mechanical designs
- Review design with Customer and internal Controls and Manufacturing Departments
- Review and check drawing packages for accuracy
- Prioritize tasks and track work to meet schedule deadlines
- Develop mechanical designs/drawings for equipment including, but not limited to the following:
- Stand-alone workstations
- Dial indexing systems
- Conveyance systems
- Robotic work cells
- Retrofit machines and systems
- Fixtures and tooling
- Assist Manufacturing during fabrication, assembly, and debug
- Perform stress analysis for design as required
- Calculate the Safety Distance Requirements in accordance to ISO 13855
- Meet deadlines and budget requirements
- Identify safety hazards
Requirements
- Proven work experience in the manufacturing and automation industries
- Minimum of 5+ years of industrial experience with SolidWorks
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Able to take direction
- Desire to continue learning and growing
- Strong communication skills
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Ability to think critically
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Associates or BS degree
- 5+ years of industrial experience
