**Hornet Cutting Systems, LLC, a proudly American-owned and Valley Center-based, integrated OEM manufacturing business of exclusively American-made cutting machines with 35-45 employees is seeking experienced assemblers with a strong work ethic, high integrity, positive attitudes, and a higher-than-average mechanical aptitude and knowledge and application of tools, who can quickly and confidently complete subassembly and assembly of the Company’s industrial cutting machines.

Hornet Cutting Systems designs, manufactures, and distributes CNC-controlled oxy-fuel, plasma, and waterjet cutting machines out of its Valley Center, KS facility. The company started in 2003 and has become of the of the leading plasma cutting machine OEMs in North American through innovation and its customer-centric business model. Hornet Cutting Systems has experienced very steady growth of its deployed equipment base over the last 15 years.

Primary Purpose of Job

The primary purpose of the assembler role is building the company’s OEM CNC cutting machines on the production floor through subassembly, final assembly, and electrical assembly. This role is responsible for ensuring each machine is completed on time and to the Company’s high-quality standards, reflecting Hornet Cutting System’s pride of craftsmanship.

Major Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Builds assemblies for machines, sub-assembly, and completion of machine.
  • Troubleshoots and fires off machines to ensure they work correctly.
  • Provide on the job training for all new employees in assembly and sub-assembly, to include coaching and developing subordinates by setting goals and expectations and providing feedback.
  • Receives and completes assembly and sub-assembly travelers (work orders).
  • Maintains a safe and professional working environment by conveying company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Maximizes production efficiency.
  • Performs shop maintenance and keeps assembly area clean and tidy.
  • Trains on machine operations.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • All other tasks as assigned by management.

Elements and Expectations of Role

  • Keeps machine and work area clean from oil, chips and unwanted materials.
  • Uses electronic setup and process documentation and keep up to date.
  • Ensures product quality, workmanship, and conformance to all applicable processes, requirements and regulatory standards in accordance with the quality assurance system.
  • Contributes to a safe and professional work environment using proper safety, PPE and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reviews production planning schedule to ensure timely completion of jobs. Keeps accurate and timely records of production data.
  • Strives for continuous improvement.
  • All other projects as assigned by management.

Candidate Profile

  • 3-5 year’s experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ electrical assembly experience or equivalent amount of technical training curriculum and practical application preferred.
  • Exhibits higher-than-average degree of mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in soldering ability and working knowledge of crimping tools and wire connectors preferred.
  • Understands the basic electrical principles, including the flow of electricity preferred.
  • Possesses a desire to learn and the ability to adapt to a challenging and changing work environment.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting electrical schematics and machine blueprints preferred.
  • Ability to use tape measures, squares, levels, fixturing tools, and other required handheld power tools correctly.

Requirements

  • Pass a drug screen.
  • Satisfactorily pass a background check.
  • Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs., stoop for extended periods of time, perform operations while lying on the floor, repetitively climb on structures in excess of 3 feet in height and work in an environment that may include temperature fluctuations and loud noise.
  • Fully reliable in terms of attendance and punctuality.
  • Possesses a strong work ethic, high integrity, and has a positive attitude.
  • Understands structural basics, including rigging and welding.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to read blueprints and layout work assignments.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • 2-year associates degree

Position Classification

  • This is a full-time non-exempt, hourly position. As such, this position will be eligible for overtime pay

Schedule

  • Regular Hours: Monday-Thursday 6:30-5:00 PM
  • Overtime: Fridays, as needed; Saturdays only on occasion

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $28.00 per hour
