POSITION SUMMARY:
The Measurement Applications Specialist will provide support to analytical applications systems critical to MPLX measurement; applies knowledge and technical skills in planning and managing of analytical measurement applications, including but not limited to QUORUM applications including FLOWCAL, Crystal Reports and PowerBI a plus. Leverages experience from a measurement point of view; offers innovative alternatives to meet measurement/business requirements; coordinates with IT to ensure measurement end-user system requirements and reports function as designed. Gas and Liquid experience especially in crude oil support required.
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. The actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Functionally understands and has working knowledge of office measurement applications. Keeps knowledge updated through participation in user groups and testing of updates.
  • Ability to support Liquids Measurement team and possess solid understanding of Measurement Analyst responsibilities and duties.
  • Assists with updating documentation used to ensure internal controls and provides suggestions on ways to improve efficiencies.
  • Problem-solving for complex problems that include technical/functional sys tem issues.
  • Works collaboratively/directly with business owners and IT to understand, document and formalize detailed system requirements. Works with business teams to clarify system capabilities, application requirements, testing, procedural needs, and priorities within the department.
  • Manages multiple process improvement projects simultaneously.
  • Understands the relationship of the various software modules including interfaces to one another and can explain that relationship to others.
  • Customer support and technical troubleshooting of all applications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Business, Applied Science, Information Technology, or any technical subject matter. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education would be acceptable.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience. (1-3 of those years developing, supporting, and troubleshooting gas and or liquid measurement applications. 3+ years of experience as measurement analyst supporting functional business solutions)
  • Understanding of gas and liquids measurement accounting in the oil and gas industry
  • Must understand the fundamentals of natural gas and liquids gathering and processing.
  • MS Office proficiency and especially with Excel
PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Business, Applied Science, Information Technology, or any technical subject matter
  • Expertise in use of Quorum measurement software products
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot complex system problems.
  • Must have strong analytical problem-solving background/skills.
  • Must have strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the data flow from the field to the Measurement Analytical teams.
  • Make solid business decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Organize work for timely completion in meeting deadlines and be available for overtime work when required.
  • Ability to see underlying or hidden problems and patterns.
  • Understands processes by separating and combining tasks into efficient workflow.
  • Must display strong well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Must have developed language skills to:
    • Write reports, summaries, policies, procedures, and memos using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, spelling, and grammar
    • Speak with poise and confidence using correct English and a well-modulated voice
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires sitting throughout most of the day. It will involve some lifting and filing. On occasion there will be outside office assignments that can involve walking around construction sites, industrial locations, field and/or wooded areas.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Generally working in an office environment, however, travel up to 25% may be required.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
The materials and equipment used on a regular basis will be a personal computer, phone, fax, copier, and map printer/plotter.
